  1. manageR - Interface to R statistical analysis
  2. manageR adds comprehensive statistical capabilities to Quantum GIS by loosely coupling QGIS with the R statistical programming environment.

  3. fTools - analysis and management tools for spatial data
  4. fTools is a comprehensive suite of analysis and data management tools that extend the functionality of Quantum GIS without the need for additional libraries or tools.

fTools

The goal of fTools is to provide a one-stop resource for many common vector-based GIS tasks, without the need for additional software, libraries, or complex workarounds.

fTools takes advantage of existing core QGIS libraries, as well as integrated python code written from the ground up to provide tools not otherwise available in QGIS. It comprises a growing suite of spatial data management and analysis functions that are both fast and functional. It features geoprocessing functions, geometry manipulation tools, sampling and analysis modules, as well as several data management functions to further facilitate and streamline GIS based research and analysis.

Features:

  • Perform geoprocessing operations including intersections, differencing, unions, dissolves, and clipping.
  • Extract relevant geometry info and products from existing layers including centroids, nodes, lines, single and multipart geometries, simplified geometries, and more.
  • Perform several sampling and field-based tasks, including generating grids, both regular and random point generation, random and spatially constrained selections, and study area extraction.
  • Plus more...

manageR

manageR is designed to 'bridge the gap' between open source GIS and advanced spatial analysis in R. By combining the analytical strengths of R with the visualisation and data management capabilities of Quantum GIS, a user-friendly open source GIS, manageR effectively streamlines the practical research process. As such, manageR makes it easier for the spatial analyst to go through the various stages of data exploration and analysis, such as exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA), model development and implementation, and finally presentation of results.

Features:

  • Perform complex statistical analysis functions on raster, vector and spatial database formats
  • Use the R statistical environment to graph, plot, and map spatial and aspatial data from within QGIS
  • Export R (sp) vector layers directly to QGIS map canvas as QGIS vector layers
  • Perform all available R commands from within QGIS, including multi-line commands
  • Read QGIS vector layers directly from map canvas as R (sp) vector layers, allowing analysis to be carried out on any vector format supported by QGIS
  • Visualise R commands cleanly and clearly using any one of the four included syntax highlighting themes
  • Create, edit, and save R scripts for complex statistical and computational operations
